Anna Netrebko

Anna Netrebko by Annie Leibovitz width=

Since her triumphant Salzburg Festival debut in 2002 as Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni, Anna Netrebko has gone on to appear with nearly all of the world's great opera companies, including the Metropolitan Opera, the San Francisco Opera, London's Covent Garden, the Vienna State Opera, the Paris Opera and many more. Critics have called her "Audrey Hepburn with a voice," and a "singer who simply has it all." Her signature roles include Mimi (Puccini's La Bohème), Violetta (Verdi's La Traviata) and the title role in his Lucia di Lammermoor (Donizetti).

With the challenges of nonstop travel, endless rehearsals, performances and recordings, musicians like soprano Anna Netrebko find some unusual methods to guard their health.

Anna Netrebko opened the MET's 2011-2012 season performing the title role in Donizetti's Anna Bolena. Her other performances this season include Don Giovanni at La Scala, La Traviata with the Royal Opera and recitals at Carnegie Hall and Vienna's Musikverein.

You can see her complete schedule and discography on her website: www. annanetrebko.com.

The music heard here is Tchaikovsky's Pas de Quatre (arr. Hough) (Hyperion 10031 or 67043).
